Description

EXTREMELY Rare Find!  This is a small antique Ashton Valve 2 inch diameter 3 chime steam whistle.  It is indeed 2 inches in diameter as the circumference is just at 6.5 inches.
Though it is not marked as such that I can see, it is indeed an Ashton Valve steam whistle.  There is a photo of one just like it on page 90 of the famous steam whistle collector's book, "The Engine's Moan."
It is 10 inches tall overall and is complete with built in valve and original lever and fully operational.  It weighs just at 5 pounds.  It has a 1/2 inch threaded inlet.  This whistle works and sounds great, the valve is tight and works just as it should.
At 60 psi, it makes a very nice, pleasant, high, melodious sound.
Please look closely at the photos as this is exactly what you will be buying.  It has a very nice patina and is in excellent condition for the age.  The lever does have a slight bend in it (see photo), possibly on purpose for the linkage on whatever it may have been used on when originally installed, possibly on a steam traction engine or small scale steam locomotive.  I am sure you could easily straighten it or leave it as-is.  I will leave that up to the new owner.  It would be great for display in a railroadiana or maritime collection as a museum piece, or to use on a small scale steam locomotive, factory, sawmill boiler, ship, tugboat, riverboat paddle wheeler, river boat, steamship, steamboat, steam traction engine or steam tractor, train, trolley or interurban tram, amusement park train, etc.
No reserve, very low starting bid, and only for shipping and insurance in the USA.  Good luck bidders!
